Highest tidal surge in Cape Hatteras history
Hurricane Emily, 1993, with 110 mph winds, sends 10.3 foot tidal surge across Buxton, N. Carolina. Surge came from Pamlico Sound to the NW, not from the Atlantic Ocean.
